Fire Sprinkler System Eyam

We were recently contacted by a client in Derbyshire and Invited to look at a listed 19th Century Farmhouse which he had recently purchased. The Intention was to convert part of the historic buildings into a Holiday Home for letting out, due to its remote setting it was deemed that a Fire Sprinkler System would be required.

The earliest reference to Ladywash is on an 1823 indenture between Thomas Bradshaw of Frith Hall and a farmer called Joseph Elliot.

The Farm itself lay on the outskirts of the small but historic village of Eyam, made famous by its villagers in the 17th Century, who bravely sealed themselves off from the outside world to prevent the spread of the deadly bubonic plague.

The building itself would present a few challenges, high vaulted ceilings with exposed Timbers, whilst these features look beautiful, they do create barriers when it comes to spray patterns, so it is critical to get the design right, the solid stone walls can be a task to navigate through too.

Coincidentally we had just completed a very similar project in Lancashire, again a listed 19th Century Farmhouse and outbuildings which were converted into private homes, this gave us confidence and some insight into how to design a system that would be functional and efficient and, Importantly, blend in unobtrusively with the beautiful internal features of Ladywash Farm.
