How does a sprinkler work?

Residential and domestic sprinklers systems are fed by a “wet pipe” system, which means it is permanently charged with water. The sprinkler heads are made up of a plug, a bulb/ fusible link (dependant on head type) a deflector plate and a cover plate. As heat generates below a sprinkler head and when the temperature reaches 57°c + the cover plate drops off revealing the sprinkler head. As the temperature increases to 68°c + the bubble in the bulb expands breaking the glass, releasing the plug and allowing the water to flow. Sprinkler heads are heat activated only, so there can be no false alarms. Read More
